Whether kids or adults, magic tricks have the ability to enchant or fascinate. Even the most simple and easiest magic trick can cause jaws to drop open. The secret does not always have to involve smoke and mirrors, but ingenuity and a quick wrist.
One of the easiest magic tricks involves using play cards. Although magicians use specially made cards or equipment sometimes, this doesn't always have to be the case.
Using a deck of cards, a piece of paper and an envelope you can make your audience believe that you have the power of prediction. In this trick, the envelope contains the name of the card located on top of the deck.
To preform this, you first have to select a card and write its name in a piece of paper. Put the paper inside the envelope and seal the envelope. Keep this card behind the envelope, face up. Do this before you hand over a deck of cards to one of your audience.
Ask your volunteer to shuffle the cards anyway he or she wants. Tell him or her that he or she is free to stop dealing the cards anytime. When he or she is done dealing, get the envelope from the table and settle it on top of the deck of cards.
Now, leave the card you've been hiding behind the envelope on top of the deck. To make it appear that you are conjuring your mystic powers, close your eyes and act as if you're concentrating.
Raise the envelope and ask your volunteer to remove the top card on the deck and reveal it to the rest of the audience. Then hand your envelope to your volunteer and ask him or her to open it. They will be amazed at this trick thinking that you can really predict the top card.
To make this trick effective, you have to neatly place the card on top of the deck and be careful enough not to show the card behind the envelope.
